Ever since Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram was announced for Xbox 360 i’ve thought it would be really cool to make my own twin sticks – especially when the Hori sticks were announced to cost $300! I milled around online and in shops looking for old 2-axis 2-button joysticks which could work, but without any other real idea how to make it a reality I only designed a faceplate and resigned the project to the bin.
Until now.
Nosing around the boards at gamefaqs I came across a link to this post – a worklog in which a guy had modded 2 NES Quickshots to work! Immediately enthused I started collecting together bits to try and build my own:

Utility box from Wilkinsons – this will act as the base. £4

2 NES Quickshots from eBay – ones covered in paint so just as well I plan to repaint them! £12

A 2006 Mad Catz 4716 Pad from CEX – hopefully with the old PCB for easy trigger hack £10
Current Cost: £26
I’ll be keeping a worklog with updates to show the progress of this little project so keep checking back! In the meantime here’s a mockup of how I hope them to look when all done, enjoy!

Fingers crossed!
