Earlier this week, Fukuoka Dreaming posted a recipe for the Japanese fried chicken dish Tori no Karaage (鶏のからあげ). It looked so good that I tried making it for dinner last night!
The pic above is my chicken slowly marinading in a mix of soy sauce, sake, garlic and ginger. Yes that is a loaf tin – all my bowls are really tall and deep so it was the only thing I could put all the chicken in so it was all sitting in the sauce – gotta respect the original thinking
I left this to marinade for a couple of hours while I caught up on some washing up – me so lazy.

All ready to start cooking! The marinaded chicken gets dipped in a mix of egg and potato starch before frying. I had to mod the recipe a bit and use flour because I couldn’t find and starch in my local supermarket

Frying away, it smelled so good

Any here’s the finished article! served with lettuce and cabbage. Check out our fancy and slightly cheaty chopsticks, we can use proper ones I promise – these are handy when you’ve had a few drinks before eating
It’s a super tasty meal i’d heartily recommend it, See the full recipe here!
