It’s taken a fair bit of work but I think this could well be my favourite kit to date! Image laden review goodness inside.
Details
This is a really well designed kit and the fact they’ve managed to make it transformable even though it’s an HG is pretty impressive! Most pieces have plenty of panel lines to keep you busy and also need a bit of paint if you aren’t interested in using the foil stickers provided. Being brave enough to try masking and spray painting with this kit has yielded some awesome results! I’ve hijacked an upainted shot from Dalong for comparison.

Went a little nuts with the custom decals as you can see!
Weapons
Murasame comes armed with a beam rifle which can be mounted to the hip, a single beam saber which is also hip mounted and 4 wing-mounted missiles which were a nightmare to paint! It’s arm-mounted shield would also make a pretty decent weapon thanks to that pointy tip.

Articulation
As you can imagine, those wings do get in the way a little even when fully folded back but it’s no biggie. Legs have some great movement especially in the feet. Sadly the hips are a little constrained by the rear skirt but again, that’s not really the selling point of this one.
This is…
TRANSFORMATION!

Remove the head…

And the arms…

Flip the chest up…

Next you remove the legs and lower half to attach this special piece for the legs during waverider mode

Reattach the legs to get something seriously stupid looking

Reattach the torso, nearly there now!

Snap the shield onto the front

Finally, the legs and feet have to be adjusted, now fold out the wings and you’re good to go!
With all the painting this kit feels like it’s taken forever, but it’s so worth it! The design is awesome, the colour scheme is great too with the custom decals complimenting the look. Lots more pics below.

Yeah it’s a bit of a shame but I think it would’ve been pretty much impossible to implement on an HG. It’s unlikely but maybe one day it’ll get the MG treatment, I can dream right?
